Understanding the Impact of Coercive and Controlling Behaviour

What is it all about?

Violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence permeate the lives of thousands of people each day with destructive results. Coercive and controlling behaviours underpin this abuse.

Since coercive and controlling behaviour became a criminal offence in England and Wales in 2015, Welsh Women’s Aid has worked with the Police to train their officers to better understand the dynamics and effects of this behaviour, and how to gather effective evidence. This course equips professionals with the knowledge and skills to support survivors of coercive control.
