The training provides learners with the skills needed to recognise and respond to domestic abuse, sexual violence, and other forms of violence against women, as well as supporting those working in specialist roles. How to advocate effectively for VAWDASV survivors

This online full day course will enable professionals who work with survivors of Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) to understand advocacy and develop an understanding of effective advocacy skills, processes and principles which they can put into practice.

VAWDASV perpetration in a digital age

The aim of this training is to equip professionals with a thorough understanding of Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse, and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) in the context of digital environments. This training seeks to enhance participants’ ability to identify, respond to, and prevent digital abuse behaviours.

Domestic abuse, mental health and suicidality

Domestic abuse does not just leave physical scars. The emotional and psychological damage often includes fear, isolation, shame, and a profound sense of hopelessness which can push many individuals to the brink of despair. This course will enhance your understanding of the critical link between domestic abuse, mental health and suicide risk. You will gain essential knowledge and skills to identify warning signs, provide trauma-informed care, and implement effective suicide prevention strategies.

Child to parent abuse

Child-to-Parent Abuse is a hidden form of domestic abuse where children or adolescents use abusive behaviour to control or harm their parents. This often overlooked issue leaves many families struggling in silence due to stigma and fear of criminalising their child.

Understanding Experiences and Effects of VAWDASV on Deaf Survivors Training

We are offering this training to practitioners working in the specialist VAWDASV sector and practitioners in the statutory sector in Wales.

Practitioners working in specialist VAWDASV sector

For specialist practitioners to have improved knowledge about the approach, skills, and resources necessary to provide a competent response to deaf survivors, including effective support and advocacy.

Learning objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of deafness and deaf culture.
  • Appreciate and understand the impacts and barriers of VAWDASV for deaf or hard of hearing survivors.
  • Strengthen their understanding of the main issues of providing a sensitive and appropriate service to deaf or hard of hearing survivors.
