Understanding Domestic Abuse Training
We are offering this training to British Sign Language Interpreters that are working in Wales. The aim of this training is to build a solid understanding of the nature and scope of domestic abuse and it’s impact on those who experience it, providing the delegates with the confidence and knowledge to deal with the issues in their work setting.

British Sign Language Interpreters and Translators
For British Sign Language interpreters and translators to enable them to fully understand key issues and be aware of every stage of the reporting and/or support process.
Learning Objectives:
- Ability to define domestic abuse as sexual, physical, mental/emotional abuse and list of examples of each.
- Appreciation and understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on those who experience it and how it affects their
behaviour and choices. - Understanding of the main issues of providing a sensitive and appropriate service to women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.

Understanding Experiences and Effects of VAWDASV on Deaf Survivors Training
We are offering this training to practitioners working in the specialist VAWDASV sector and practitioners in the statutory sector in Wales.
Practitioners working in specialist VAWDASV sector
For specialist practitioners to have improved knowledge about the approach, skills, and resources necessary to provide a competent response to deaf survivors, including effective support and advocacy.
Learning objectives:
- Develop an understanding of deafness and deaf culture.
- Appreciate and understand the impacts and barriers of VAWDASV for deaf or hard of hearing survivors.
- Strengthen their understanding of the main issues of providing a sensitive and appropriate service to deaf or hard of hearing survivors.
